Setting up a laptop my way

First, let me dispel any illusion that I'm some kind of laptop expert. I'm not. I just happen to use laptops at home primarily, and there are some things which I forget when rebuilding them, that I felt I should write down.

Generic Stuff

• http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/rpmforge-release/ - this installs the headers for the DAG RPM repository. Kinda important.

Thinkpad specific stuff

I happen to prefer IBM Thinkpads, mostly due to the fact I can get one with a trackpoint and not a glidepad. I can't stand glidepads and resent the loss of real estate which they represent. That having been said, http://www.thinkwiki.org/ seems to be the best place to go for Thinkpad specific info.
