Useful Notes on Various Phones
I'm just tossing this out here for my own reference. It's by no means conclusive; it's just what I find useful and know I won't remember on my own.

LG VX-8300
This phone annoys me by being DRM-locked from the factory, so that it can't play MP3s and such. Luckily, it's easy to get around that and I want to make sure as many people as possible are aware of it!
- Accessing Service Menu: From the just-opened or just-powered-on start screen, go to the menu (usually just hit 'ok') and then type 0000000. This will get you into the Services menu. There are a lot of things accessible from this menu, and I don't pretend to know how any of them would be useful. It is interesting though, that on mine the GPS "Privacy" setting was initially set to 'none'. Not sure if that means anything but it looked ominous.
- Disabling MP3 lockout: Go to the bottom of the menu, where it says "Music Setting". Select it, and then you will see "MP3 Disable" and "MP3 Enable". Obviously you want mp3s enabled.
